Pope Leo XIV invites to pray Rosary for peace in October

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV has invited the faithful to pray the Rosary for peace throughout the month of October. The Pope made this request following a Mass in Lourdes.

During a speech in Metz regarding European roots for peace and unity, the Pope urged leaders to show courage in negotiations and to be willing to sacrifice certain positions for the greater good of peace. He warned against the illusion of rearmament, noting that increasing military spending is difficult to categorize as a creative effort for peace.

The Pope referenced Robert Schuman to suggest that global peace requires creative efforts proportional to existing dangers. He characterized current military trends as a frenzy of rearmament that could lead to a new useless massacre in Europe.
