Graduands at Augustinian University in Nigeria Challenged to Invest Knowledge in Addressing Country's “moral chaos”

Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto urged graduates of Augustine University to use their education to address insecurity, corruption, and societal challenges in Nigeria.

During a lecture at the university's 8th Convocation ceremony on Thursday, October 29, Bishop Kukah spoke about a moral decline in Nigerian society. He stated that corruption, favoritism, and a disregard for the law have undermined merit and integrity. He noted that the nation faces a moral decline where leadership often fails to provide a good example and laws are frequently ignored.

The bishop encouraged the graduates to remain builders of society regardless of whether they stay in Nigeria or move abroad. He told the students to use their ideas, networks, and technology to work toward a more just nation.
