Bishop Felice Accrocca publishes 13th Franciscan pill

Bishop Felice Accrocca released the 13th installment of his Franciscan series, titled FeliCitazioni francescane, on September 25. In this entry, the bishop of Assisi, Nocera Umbra, Gualdo Tadino, and Foligno examines how Saint Francis used his final days to practice altruism and teaching.

Accrocca describes how Francis requested to be returned to the Porziuncola as his health declined. During this time, Francis asked that Jacopa dei Settesogli be informed of his condition so she could provide a coarse cloth for a habit and mostaccioli, a sweet made of almonds, sugar or honey. Jacopa arrived with these items, but Francis was only able to taste a small amount due to his physical weakness. Francis also remembered his companion, Brother Bernardo, and suggested that the sweets would please him.
