First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with patients and their companions at the Accueil Notre-Dame Center in Lourdes on Sunday, September 27. The center serves as a health and hospitality facility for vulnerable or sick pilgrims at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes in France.

During the meeting, the Pope spoke about the dignity of persons and the importance of encountering God through human fragility. He noted that the sanctuary's pastoral theme this year focuses on the greeting of the Archangel Gabriel to Mary.

The Pope's address drew attention from the secular press in France, where abortion is a constitutional right and euthanasia is legal.
