Pope Leo XIV arrived at the Lourdes shrine on the evening of Saturday, September 26, 2026. Following his visit to Paris, the pope traveled to the Marian shrine to conduct a pilgrimage.

Pilgrims can see the pope from the popemobile as he greets the faithful several times before Sunday Mass at the Prairie. Fr. James Phelan, the coordinating chaplain for English-speaking pilgrims, described the site as a special home of Mary where the pope will pray for the world.
