Monteiro Neto discusses role of radio and television in the digital age

Monteiro Neto, the director general of Rede Vida television, discussed the evolving role of radio and television during an interview at the Vatican Radio studios. Speaking with journalist Silvonei José, Neto addressed the challenges of digital transformation and the influence of large technology companies on the internet.

Neto noted that unlike traditional radio and television, which follow specific regulations, the internet lacks rigid borders and is dominated by big tech companies. He suggested that society must regain the wisdom and discernment to determine what is ethical and constructive, balancing individual freedom with the fundamental values of human coexistence.

During the conversation, Neto emphasized the importance of natural, transparent, and human communication. He stated that clarity in transmitting religious content allows the voice to connect deeply with viewers. The discussion also highlighted the ongoing partnership between Vatican News and Rede Vida to provide quality programming and evangelization to households across Brazil.
