Bishop Augusto Mascagna expresses condolences for workplace death in Pistoia

Bishop Augusto Mascagna of Pescia and Pistoia expressed condolences to the family of a man who died following a workplace accident in the Sant’Agostino industrial area of Pistoia.

The man, approximately 43 years old and an employee of a company based in Milan, fell about eight meters from a warehouse roof while installing roofing panels, according to Toscana Oggi. Although medical personnel attempted resuscitation, he died at the scene. Emergency responders from the 118 service, the Croce Verde of Pistoia, law enforcement, and the local health authority's workplace safety department attended the site. Investigations into the cause of the fall are ongoing.

In a statement released by the Diocese of Pistoia, Mascagna said the death is a painful reminder of collective responsibility and should not be treated as an unavoidable accident. He urged the community to seek immediate improvements to ensure dignity and safety in the workplace rather than offering only occasional attention to such tragedies.
