Pope Leo XIV publishes encyclical Magnifica humanitas

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV published his first encyclical, Magnifica humanitas, to provide a vision and method for protecting human dignity during the age of artificial intelligence.

During a meeting on September 10 with approximately 147 bishops from five continents at the Vatican Synod Hall, the pope described the document as a way to address the challenges posed by advances in communication technologies and artificial intelligence. He noted that while these technologies create new possibilities, they cannot remove humanity from sin or the crises the world currently faces. The pope urged bishops to promote dialogue and reflection within their dioceses to support those serving the civilization of love.
