Pope Leo XIV thanks participants in Amoris Laetitia meeting

Pope Leo XIV sent a message to participants in a meeting marking the 10th anniversary of Amoris Laetitia, thanking them for their work and prayers. The Pope was unable to attend the meeting, which took place from October 7 to 14 at the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican.

In his message dated October 13, the Pope expressed gratitude to the families who shared their joys and difficulties, as well as to the heads of Catholic Churches and the presidents of episcopal conferences for their preparation. He stated that he will review the results of the discussions and share his own reflections at an appropriate time.

The Pope encouraged bishops to begin sharing what they experienced during the meeting with their dioceses and episcopal conferences. He also urged them to continue announcing the Gospel to families using the teachings of Amoris Laetitia and expressed his hope that families will remain active participants in the life and mission of local churches to help leaders discern future paths.

Vatican News reported that the message was signed on the same day the Pope underwent surgery at the Gemelli Hospital.
