Papa Leone XIV a Lourdes: "La parola della Chiesa ha pieno diritto di cittadinanza nel dibattito pubblico in Francia"

Pope Leo XIV told bishops during a meeting at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes that the Church has a full right to participate in public debate in France. Speaking at the Santa Bernadette amphitheater, the Pope stated that the Church possesses a prophetic authority by its nature and remains an essential part of the country's culture, identity, and vocation in the world. He noted that while the Church's voice is not always heard, it is expected.

The Pope encouraged the bishops to show courage, boldness, and missionary creativity. He urged them not to be discouraged by errors or inconsistencies, but to instead recognize faults through a love for truth and to heal wounds with charity. He also highlighted the connection between the nation and the Virgin Mary, noting the solemn consecration on February 10, 1638.
