Pope Leo XIV defends speaking out for life in France

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV defended his decision to speak about the right to life during a press conference on his flight from France to Rome. Responding to a French reporter, the Pope stated that his comments were intended to teach Church doctrine rather than to participate in French politics.

The Pope explained that his primary purpose for visiting France was to preach the Gospel and reaffirm the teachings of Jesus Christ. He noted that the Church holds a deep belief in the defense of life and seeks to remain close to the sick and disabled to affirm the value of life for everyone. During the press conference, the Pope also addressed topics including sexual abuse, the war in Ukraine, the housing crisis, and artificial intelligence.
