Pope Leo XIV at Angelus: “May the Lord inspire choices of dialogue and peace”

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV called for continued prayer for peace during the Angelus, recalling the 40th anniversary of the meeting in Assisi organized by Pope John Paul II. The Pope asked that the Lord inspire choices of dialogue and peace, noting that wars cause death, destruction, and global impoverishment.

The upcoming gathering on October 27 involves religious leaders and heads of churches. While the Pope encouraged spiritual unity with those meeting in Assisi, he will not travel by helicopter to the event. Doctors advised against the flight as a precaution following his recent surgery to remove a lung adenocarcinoma.
