Pope Leo XIV to challenge young people to reject the dictatorship of «likes»

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV told young people at a prayer vigil in the Stade de France to reject a lifestyle centered on digital metrics and consumerist cravings. During the event in Saint-Denis on September 25, 2026, the pope warned that seeking validation through social media likes can lead to loneliness and a loss of identity.

The pope described a society indifferent to God as one that loses its sense of human purpose. During the dialogue, Chloé, a pharmacology student from the La Cité Céleste collective, asked how to maintain missionary zeal while living alongside people of different faiths in the neighborhoods of Île-de-France. The pope responded that the Gospel promotes fraternal living and forgiveness rather than conflict.
