First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV granted a plenary indulgence through the Apostolic Penitentiary to mark the 100th World Mission Sunday on October 18, 2026. The day was originally established by Pope Pius XI in 1926.

To receive the indulgence, the faithful must meet standard conditions, including confession, Holy Communion, and praying for the intentions of the Pope. Additionally, those participating must pray the Rosary with the intention of spreading the Gospel throughout the world.

The theme for this centenary celebration is "One in Christ, united in mission." In a message released on January 25, the Pope called on the Church to follow a missionary path characterized by hearts united in Christ and reconciled communities.
