Pope Leo XIV invites young people to Seoul for WYD 2027

Pope Leo XIV invited young people to participate in the 2027 World Youth Day in Seoul, marking the opening of registrations on October 22. In a video message, the pope described the event as a pilgrimage of faith, friendship, and hope rather than a simple visit to a new city.

He encouraged participants to bring their dreams, hopes, and difficulties to the pilgrimage to find deeper personal encounters with God and the Church. The pope noted that the gathering of diverse cultures and languages would foster a sense of unity and provide an opportunity to deepen faith. He also expressed his hope that attendees would form lifelong friendships.

The registration opening coincides with the liturgical memorial of Saint John Paul II. In his message, Pope Leo XIV referenced his predecessor's encouragement to not be afraid and to open doors to Christ.
