First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV met with sick pilgrims, caregivers, medical staff, and volunteers at the Accueil Notre-Dame in Lourdes on Sunday afternoon, September 27. During his address, the pope told the sick they are not a burden but are the beating heart of humanity and a precious treasure for the Church.

The pope emphasized that human dignity does not depend on health or strength. He stated that what is legal is not necessarily moral and argued that taking a life should never be considered normal. He urged society to never neglect those who suffer and called on healthcare workers to be passionate servants of life by caring for the suffering and developing palliative care.
