Pope Leo XIV prays the rosary with one million children

Pope Leo XIV prayed the rosary with almost 1,000 children from schools and parishes in Rome to begin a week of prayer for world peace. The event launched the "One Million Children Pray the Rosary" initiative promoted by Aid to the Church in Need.

The global initiative began in Caracas in 2005 and draws inspiration from Saint Padre Pio, who suggested that the world would change if one million children prayed the rosary together. This year, the program involved communities from every continent.

During the event on October 1, Pope Leo XIV encouraged children to join the global prayer, noting that their collective prayers for peace connect every continent and nation. In Győr, students from the Apor Vilmos Catholic School Center joined the prayer chain on October 8. Led by school chaplain Krisztián Ézsöl, the students prayed one decade of the rosary to contribute to the prayers for peace.
