Pope Leo XIV Publishes Encyclical Magnifica Humanitas

Pope Leo XIV has published his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, which addresses the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on human life.

The document suggests that digital tools are not neutral but instead shape the attention, sensitivity, and thought structures of those who use them. According to Omnes, the Pope emphasizes that all technology educates its user. The encyclical calls for an ecology of communication to protect the common good and the search for truth, particularly within schools and universities.

The text warns that the speed of artificial intelligence may discourage the human desire to ask questions. In this context, experts noted that the encyclical finds new relevance alongside the teachings of St. John Paul II, who previously argued that technological progress must remain centered on the human person.
