Pope Leo XIV recalls beatification of 20 Spanish martyred priests

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV paid tribute to 20 martyred priests from the Balearic Islands during a general audience on Wednesday, October 21. The priests, including Juan Torres Torres, were beatified last Saturday at the Cathedral of Ibiza.

The group consisted of priests from Ibiza and Formentera who were killed during religious persecutions in August and September 1936. According to Vatican News, these men were murdered out of hatred for the faith.

During the audience, the Pope noted that the testimony of these priests encourages others to offer their lives as an act of love to God and others.
