First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV received delegates from the elective General Chapter of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret at the Vatican Apostolic Palace on October 26, 2026.

During the audience, the Pope greeted the newly elected superior general and the sisters appointed to advise and assist her. He noted that the delegates had engaged in communal discernment during their recent meetings.

The Pope referenced the life of Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret, noting her respect for the successor of Peter despite facing misunderstandings and sacrifices for the unity of her congregation. The theme chosen for the chapter's work was "In Christ, the roots; in the world, the mission."
