Pope Leo XIV says Church teaches and deeply believes in defense of life

Pope Leo XIV stated that the defense of life is a principle the Church teaches and deeply believes in during an interview on his flight from France to Rome.

During his apostolic journey to France from September 25 to 28, the pope addressed various social and ethical issues. He expressed concern regarding societal trends that use science and technology for profit through genetic manipulation, surrogacy, the sale of organs, or assisted suicide. He also spoke in defense of children in the womb, people with physical or intellectual disabilities, the elderly, migrants, refugees, and those in war zones.

While in Lourdes, the pope told the sick that they are not a burden but are a precious treasure for the Church and the beating heart of humanity. He noted the importance of visiting places like Lourdes where people understand that life has meaning despite illness, disability, or suffering.
