Pope Leo XIV sends greeting to Peru

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV sent a message to the faithful in Peru to celebrate the feast of the Lord of Miracles. In a brief letter addressed to Cardinal Carlos Castillo, the Archbishop of Lima, the Pope sent his blessings to the thousands of devotees participating in processions and gathering at the Sanctuary of Las Nazarenas.

The Pope expressed gratitude for the prayers offered for his health. He sent the greeting one day after being discharged from Gemelli Hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung due to adenocarcinoma.

Cardinal Castillo had previously sent a message to the Pope to express the support of bishops, priests, and the lay faithful for his recovery. In his response, Pope Leo XIV thanked the Cardinal and sent a warm embrace to all the devotees.
