Pope Leo XIV sends message to Amoris laetitia gathering

Pope Leo XIV sent a message to participants of a week-long meeting marking the tenth anniversary of the apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia. The message, dated October 13, was read at the conclusion of the gathering on October 14.

In the message, the pope expressed his desire for families to be actively involved in the life and mission of the Church to help discern the paths to follow. He told participants that he would read the results of their discussions and share his own reflections at a later time.

The pope sent the message while recovering at Gemelli Hospital following lung surgery. According to Rome Reports, his postoperative recovery is progressing normally, and he has begun walking in his room, completed respiratory physiotherapy, and resumed eating.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle presided over the closing Mass in St. Peter’s Square alongside presidents of bishops' conferences from around the world.
