Pope Leo XIV tastes French students’ ‘St. Thérèse cake’

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV tasted a specialty cake made by students from Sainte Thérèse de La Guerche on Sept. 26 in Paris. The tasting occurred before the pope celebrated Mass at the Place de la Concorde.

The cake was prepared by six students from the high school on Sept. 23. Founded in 1990 and named in honor of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the school specializes in training students for careers in the hospitality and restaurant industries.

Assistant principal Vanessa Piquet said the heart-shaped cake has existed for twenty years and carries symbolism. The shape evokes the love for God and others at the center of St. Thérèse’s message, while the rose petal decorations evoke the shower of roses the saint spoke of regarding the graces her prayers would obtain.
