Pope Leo XIV to celebrate 14 public Masses in November

Pope Leo XIV will celebrate 14 public Masses in November, according to a schedule released by the Vatican. The schedule includes five Masses in Rome and Vatican City and nine Masses during a trip to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from Nov. 6 to 17.

The liturgical schedule follows a medical update in which doctors cleared the Pope to travel without changes. On Oct. 21, physicians stated he would require no further cancer treatment following a video-assisted surgery on Oct. 13 to remove the lower lobe of his right lung.

The Pope's November liturgies begin with an All Souls’ Day Mass at 4 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Verano Cemetery near the Basilica of St. Lawrence Outside the Walls. On Nov. 5, he will preside over a 9 a.m. Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica for cardinals and bishops who died during the past year. Following his return from South America, the Pope is scheduled to celebrate a 5 p.m. Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica on Nov. 18 to mark the 400th anniversary of the basilica's dedication.
