Pope Leo XIV to resume Wednesday general audience

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV will lead a general audience in St. Peter's Square on Wednesday, October 21, according to the Vatican Press Office. The pontiff is recovering at the Apostolic Palace following surgery on October 13 to remove a cancerous lung nodule at Gemelli Hospital.

The pope will skip his usual Monday and Tuesday evening stay at the papal villa in Castel Gandolfo while he continues his recovery. He returned to the Vatican on Saturday and resumed praying the Sunday Angelus from the Apostolic Palace on October 18.

Dr. Stefano Margaritora, the surgeon who performed the operation, cleared the pope to proceed with an apostolic journey to South America scheduled for November. During his Angelus address, the pope stated he would gradually resume his activities.
