Pope Leo XIV to visit Argentina

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to arrive in Argentina on November 8 as part of a South American journey from November 6 to 17. Organizers expect as many as seven million pilgrims to attend the visit, supported by 25,077 registered volunteers. This trip marks the first visit to Argentina by a pope since John Paul II traveled there in 1987.

The Pope's itinerary in Argentina includes stops in Buenos Aires, Córdoba on November 10, and the shrine of Our Lady of Luján on November 11. During the visit, he will meet with President Javier Milei, engage with religious leaders and civil society representatives, and visit vulnerable communities, including a prison complex and a center for people with multiple disabilities.

The Argentine visit follows the Pope's trip to Uruguay and precedes his travel to Peru, where he previously served as a bishop in Chiclayo.
