Pope Leo XIV to visit Peru

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Archdiocese of Lima and the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya held a workshop for journalists, communicators, and pastoral workers to prepare for the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to Peru. The training session, titled "Pope Leo XIV in Peru: Keys to Informing with Context and Rigor," encouraged media professionals to cover the papal visit with ethics and accuracy rather than treating it as a media spectacle.

Father Juan Bytton, the general secretary for the Pope's visit to Lima, told participants that while the Pope receives honors as a head of state for diplomatic and historical reasons, the trip is primarily an apostolic mission. He explained that the purpose of the visit is to encourage and confirm the faith of the people.

The workshop featured Juan José Dioses, director of communications for the Archdiocese of Lima, and Mónica Moreno, who served as press chief during Pope Francis's 2018 visit to Peru.
