Pope Leo XIV to visit Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru

Pope Leo XIV is planning a trip to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru in November, according to reports regarding his upcoming travels. Ambassadors from the three nations are awaiting official confirmation from the Holy See, while working together to prepare for the visit.

Juan Raúl Ferreira, the Uruguayan ambassador to the Holy See, said he and his colleagues from Argentina and Peru are in constant contact to coordinate preparations and avoid complicating negotiations for the Vatican. Ferreira noted that while the ambassadors are working together, there is uncertainty regarding the trip due to concerns for the pope's health.

The visit to Uruguay would be the first papal trip to the country since 1988. Bishop Milton Tróccoli, president of the Uruguayan bishops' conference, noted that the nation has a unique history of early secularization and late evangelization compared to its neighbors.
