First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV underwent surgery on Tuesday, October 13, to remove a cancerous lung nodule at the Policlinico Gemelli. The Holy See Press Office reported that the procedure concluded successfully and noted a constant improvement in his general condition.

The Vatican announced on Thursday, October 15, that routine examinations following the surgery were normal. Medical staff are now awaiting results from additional tests to determine the stage of the cancer.

At the Sant'Anna papal parish in the Vatican, priest Mario Millardi said the community is offering daily Mass and the Rosary for the Pope to support a rapid recovery.
