Pope Leo XIV undergoes lung surgery

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV successfully underwent surgery to remove a lung nodule on Tuesday, October 13, at the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital in Rome. The procedure followed an announcement the Pope made during the Angelus prayer on Sunday, October 11, where he informed the faithful at St. Peter's Square that doctors had discovered a small, localized, and well-defined nodule during recent medical examinations.

Matteo Bruni, the director of the Holy See Press Office, previously noted that the surgery was scheduled for the early part of the week and that the expected recovery time would be approximately one week. Following the operation, the Pope had a restful night.
