First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV underwent lung surgery on 13 October 2026 at Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

Cardinal Baldassare Reina, the vicar general of Rome, led a Rosary prayer at the hospital chapel during the operation. The Diocese of Rome invited parishes and religious communities to join the prayers for the pope's health. While the Rosary was being led at the hospital, the pope's Augustinian brothers gathered to pray at a Marian shrine near Rome.
