Vatican sources deny Pope Leo XIV will receive immunotherapy

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Vatican sources denied reports on October 25 that Pope Leo XIV will undergo immunotherapy following his lung surgery. The denial addresses previous claims that the Pope would receive preventive treatment to reduce the risk of recurrence.

According to the Adnkronos news agency, histological and molecular tests confirmed that the lung adenocarcinoma was localized. An oncological assessment determined that additional therapy is not necessary. This follows a surgery in October to remove the lower lobe of the Pope's right lung.

The previous reports regarding immunotherapy followed claims by GloboNews that the Pope would receive pembrolizumab for at least three years.
