Pope Leo XIV's visit to Spain in June 2026 generated an economic impact of 139.48 million euros, according to a report presented by the Spanish Episcopal Conference on October 20. An audit by the consulting firm EY confirmed that the six-day trip, which took place from June 6 to 12, concluded without a deficit or debt.

The papal visit to Madrid, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife drew approximately 2.31 million attendees and utilized more than 18,000 volunteers. The study found that the trip created the equivalent of 3,080 full-time jobs. In Madrid alone, the visit generated 101 million euros in gross value added.

Total expenditures for the trip reached 29,318,389 euros. The largest costs included audiovisual production, lighting, and sound at 7.8 million euros, followed by space preparation and adaptation at 6.7 million euros, and professional and security services at 6.13 million euros.

The Spanish Episcopal Conference distributed these costs among several entities: 55.6% to the Archdiocese of Madrid, 15.7% to the Archdiocese of Barcelona, 10.8% to the Spanish Episcopal Conference, 9% to the Diocese of Tenerife, and 8.9% to the Diocese of Canarias. Fernando Giménez Barriocanal, the deputy general coordinator of the visit, noted that the trip did not create a deficit because all expenses were included within the existing budgets of the various dioceses.
