Pope Leo XIV says wars are senseless

First source report

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV said Russia and Ukraine should engage in dialogue to end their conflict, describing wars as senseless. Speaking to journalists on a flight from Metz to Rome following his apostolic journey to France, the pope addressed current conflicts and the economic interests that sustain them.

The pope noted that while the Church continues to proclaim the Gospel, certain individuals are becoming wealthy through the arms industry. He stated that the billions of dollars generated by these interests could instead be used to address global issues such as world hunger.
