Sisters of Charity of Nazareth celebrate St. Vincent de Paul’s Feast Day

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and their Associates will celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul on Sept. 27. The community will hold a prayer service to ask for the ability to see Christ in those who suffer and to remain ready to serve others.

In a letter to the congregation, Sisters Jacky and Amrita said the example of St. Vincent challenges members to recognize the dignity of people affected by poverty, hunger, war, and natural disasters. The prayer service will include intentions for those affected by floods and displacement, as well as those lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Participants will also pray for people facing isolation, injustice, and human trafficking.

During the service, participants may light a candle or lamp to symbolize the presence of Christ and the call to bring light to others. The Sisters intend for the feast day to serve as an invitation to care for creation and respond to global needs through action.
