St. Bakhita House Joins Thrive for Life
First source report
St. Bakhita House in Milwaukee joined Thrive for Life as its fourth House of Studies and its first location serving women on August 29. The ministry provides a supportive community for women who have survived human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and incarceration.
During a celebration that included Mass at St. Martin de Porres, Auxiliary Bishop Jeffrey R. Haines blessed the Peace and Healing Garden at St. Bakhita House. The garden serves as a space for prayer and reflection and features a new statue of St. Josephine Bakhita.
Founded in 2022 by Anne Haines, St. Bakhita Catholic Worker House follows the Catholic Worker tradition of Dorothy Day. The ministry aims to help women rediscover their dignity and identity through community support.
