Uruguay prays 3.5 million Hail Marys for Pope Leo XIV's health

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Catholic Church in Uruguay has launched a prayer campaign to recite 3.5 million Hail Marys for the health and recovery of Pope Leo XIV. The goal represents one prayer for every person living in Uruguay.

The campaign follows the Pope's admission to a clinic in Rome on Tuesday, October 13, for a surgical procedure. The Diocese of Montevideo reported that the Pope requested the prayers of the faithful during the announcement of his hospitalization.

The Uruguayan Episcopal Conference is managing the initiative through the website papaleonuruguay.uy. Individuals, families, parishes, and schools can participate by recording the number of Hail Marys they recite on the website to add to a national total.
