Pope Leo XIV to visit France

Pope Leo XIV attended a meeting titled "At the Roots of Europe for Peace and Unity" at the Robert Schuman Congress Centre during his apostolic journey to France. Upon his arrival at the auditorium, the pope was welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron and Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline, president of the Bishops' Conference of France.

The meeting included musical introductions, welcome remarks from the French president and the president of the bishops' conference, a video about Europe, and the European anthem before the pope delivered his address. During his speech, the pope noted that the meeting's title was inspired by the figure of Venerable Robert Schuman. He highlighted Schuman's connection to the Moselle region, where he lived, is buried, and served as a representative in the National Assembly.

Following the address, the pope traveled by car to the bishop's residence for a private lunch.
