Vietnam bishops to close diocesan phase of Pierre Lambert de la Motte sainthood cause

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam will meet at the Tàpao Marian Center on Nov. 13 to formally close the diocesan inquiry into the cause for the beatification and canonization of Pierre Lambert de la Motte.

Bishop Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng of Phan Thiết announced the upcoming ceremony during a Mass on Oct. 13. The event marks the conclusion of the diocesan phase of the sainthood process for the Servant of God.

The announcement occurred during a two-day pilgrimage to the Marian shrine in Lâm Đồng, which drew thousands of pilgrims and more than 1,500 members of Catholic associations from the Diocese of Phan Thiết. Bishop Hùng presided over the Oct. 13 Mass alongside Vicar General Father John Baptist Trần Văn Thuyết, Father Peter Trần Thanh Bình, and approximately 50 priests.
