Pope Leo XIV celebrates final Mass in France

Pope Leo XIV celebrated his final Mass in France at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Metz on Monday, September 28. The liturgy served as the final public event of the Pope's fourth day of his visit to the country.

During the Mass, the Pope thanked President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, for the French government's assistance in organizing the apostolic journey. In his homily, the Pope spoke about the importance of justice, righteousness, and peace. He used images from the prophet Isaiah, such as the desert, a garden, and a house, to describe the coming of the Kingdom of God. He noted that the desert represents a place of silence and simplicity that helps people find the path of goodness through sacrifice and renunciation.
