The committee for the tenth Slovenian-Croatian jubilee pilgrimage met in Novo Mesto on Friday, October 23, 2026. The committee, which includes representatives from all Slovenian dioceses, is preparing for the pilgrimage scheduled for Saturday, September 25, 2027.
Bishop Andrej Saje led the meeting, while Marko Kovač represented the Croatian Bishops' Conference. Peter Kokotec, the general vicar of the Diocese of Novo Mesto, serves as the committee secretary.
The Diocese of Novo Mesto selected the parish of Prečna pri Novem Mestu as the location. The central event will be a communal Eucharistic celebration held at 11:00 on the grounds of the parish church dedicated to St. Anton Padovanski. The theme for the pilgrimage is "Christ is our peace."
These joint pilgrimages began in 2003 in Marija Bistrica to strengthen faith and cooperation between the two nations. This tenth meeting focuses on prayer for peace, reconciliation, and friendship between nations.
