Arcbishop Lauro Tisi says religious life should be a source of hope for the world

Archbishop Lauro Tisi said that religious life should act as a midwife to help the world generate hope. He spoke during a Mass on Saturday, October 24, to open a conference for the Triveneto episcopal conference in Mestre.

The conference, organized by Usmi, Cism, and Ciis, gathered more than 350 religious men and women from all dioceses in the Triveneto region. The theme of the day was the courage of religious life being "on the move" and the desire to find new prophetic momentum.

During his homily, Tisi stated that the Kingdom of God does not follow the logic of power, success, or visibility. He described consecrated life as a delivery room rather than a mortuary.

Roberto Pasolini, a friar and biblical scholar, also spoke at the event. He cautioned religious orders against the temptation to retreat by gathering into fewer, more efficient houses to reduce expenses. Pasolini noted that reducing the presence of congregations contradicts the concept of a Church that goes out into the world.
