Archdiocese of Sevilla trains 400+ religion teachers

More than 400 religion teachers from public schools in the Archdiocese of Sevilla attended training sessions on October 20 and 21. Organized by the Diocesan Delegation of Teaching, the sessions took place at the Centro del Profesorado de Sevilla and the Facultad de Teología San Isidoro de Sevilla.

Juan Manuel Rodríguez Muniz, the diocesan delegate, presided over the meetings. The sessions presented the annual programming and training offerings for the current school year. The delegation also introduced activities such as a spiritual film week to encourage teacher fellowship and to support the teaching of religion in schools.

A central part of the training focused on the protection of minors and vulnerable persons. Ángel Failde, the episcopal delegate of the Oficina Diocesana de Protección de Menores y Personas Vulnerables, gave a presentation on the code of best practices for priests, catechists, and religion teachers. The session covered canon law and the different types of conduct that constitute sexual abuse.
