Archdiocese of Sevilla inaugurates academic year with reflection on holiness and beauty

The San Isidoro Faculty of Theology in the Archdiocese of Sevilla opened its new academic year on October 1, 2026. The event included a Mass at the Metropolitan Seminary's main chapel and an inaugural lecture.

Archbishop José Ángel Saiz Meneses presided over the Mass, which was concelebrated by Fabio Fabene, secretary of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, along with several bishops and the faculty dean, Manuel Palma. During his homily, Saiz Meneses stated that the Holy Spirit guides the mission of institutions dedicated to thinking about the faith. He noted that theological study should lead to wisdom and help form disciples who announce Christ through both words and life.

Fabio Fabene delivered the inaugural lecture as part of the opening proceedings. The gathering brought together the academic and Church community to review the previous year's report and begin the new term.
