Bishop Vicent Ribas to preside over Sant Carles patronal feast

Bishop Vicent Ribas will preside over the patronal feast of Sant Carles on Wednesday, November 4. The festivities begin at noon with a solemn Mass in honor of the parish patron, followed by a traditional procession.

The Sant Carles parish was established by a 1785 decree from Mons. Manuel Abad y Lasierra, the first bishop of the Diocese of Ibiza. The decree noted that the fertile territory of es Figueral was sparsely populated due to its distance from the Santa Eulària vicarage. While the original decree suggested locating the parish in es Figueral, the parish church was instead built in the Peralta area, near the center of the parish territory. The church was likely in use by the end of the 18th century, though the porch, bell tower, and rectory were added at a later date.
