Bishop Altevir celebrates Mass at the Cathedral of the Divine Holy Spirit

Bishop Altevir of the Prelature of Tefé celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of the Divine Holy Spirit on Tuesday, October 27. He was received by Bishop Geovane during his visit to the Diocese of Divinópolis.

During the homily, Bishop Altevir described the difficulties of missionary work in the Amazonas region, noting that fuel prices in remote areas reach between R$9.00 and R$10.00 per liter. He stated that traveling to some communities requires more than one thousand liters of fuel. He expressed gratitude for the long-standing partnership between the two dioceses, which began in the 1970s.

The visit continues with a trip to the Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception in Conceição do Pará and the Parish of Saint Sebastian in Leandro Ferreira on October 28. On October 29, a Mass will be held at the Parish of Saint Anne in Itaúna with representatives from the Sant’Ana, Santo Antônio, and Nossa Senhora da Piedade deaneries.
