Cardinal Carlos Castillo, the archbishop of Lima, noted that Pope Leo XIV participated in his episcopal ordination. While reviewing a photograph from his ordination at the Lima Cathedral on March 2, 2019, the cardinal realized that Robert Prevost, the current Pope, was among the bishops who imposed hands during the rite.

The Archbishop of Lima expressed gratitude for the discovery during an interview related to the documentary series "Leo XIV Returns Home," produced by the Archdiocese of Lima. The photograph also includes other figures, such as Luis Bambarén and Gustavo Gutiérrez.
