Croatian Bishops' Conference holds 73rd plenary session

The Croatian Bishops' Conference held its 73rd plenary session from October 20 to 22, 2026, at the conference headquarters in Zagreb. Archbishop Dražen Kutleša, the metropolitan archbishop of Zagreb, presided over the meeting.

The bishops discussed the implementation stage of the synodal process that began in 2021. This discussion followed instructions from Pope Leo XIV via a letter from the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops regarding preparations for the 2027–2028 assemblies.

The meeting included guests such as the apostolic nuncio to Croatia, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, and retired Zagreb Archbishop Josip Cardinal Bozanić. Other attendees included military ordinary Miro Relota, Bishop Mirko Štefković, Bishop Fabijan Svalina, Bishop Ferenc Fazekas, and Bishop Mladen Vukšić. These guests provided brief reports on the state of the Church and society in their respective regions.
