Bishop Osmany Massó Cuesta visits Vitoria

Bishop Osmany Massó Cuesta visited the Diocese of Vitoria this week to meet with seminarians and local Church leaders. The Bishop of Bayamo Manzanillo, who began his leadership in Cuba in March 2026, traveled to Vitoria to observe the growth and discernment process of a seminarian training at the seminary on Beato Tomás de Zumárraga Street.

During his visit, Massó Cuesta met with Bishop Juan Carlos Elizalde and seminary formators. On Thursday, September 17, the Bishop of Vitoria invited Massó Cuesta to preside over the 1:00 p.m. Mass while 29 seminarians were participating in spiritual exercises.

Massó Cuesta, whose ancestors originated from Olmedillo de Roa in the province of Burgos, is the third bishop of the Bayamo Manzanillo diocese. That diocese was established by Pope John Paul II in 1995 and currently serves over 220,000 baptized Catholics.
